I am cautiously optimistic, I stress cautiously and I hate to use the word optimistic because that implies a good outcome, about an Obama presidency, as of this moment. That could change and probably will in the coming months. Most of the cause for my cautious optimism is due to this article http://www.reason.com/news/show/129248.html I identify myself as a libertarian, and constantly try explain to others that our federal govt. is overstepping its bounds set forth in the constitution, but not very many people seem to care. This rhetoric of "change" and "hope" has permeated all levels of the leftist media with no questions about who Obama is or what he has done. I constatly think about this story I was sent several months ago.

A chemistry professor in a large college had some exchange students in the class. One day while the class was in the lab the Professor noticed one young man (exchange student) who kept rubbing his back, and stretching as if his back hurt.

The professor asked the young man what was the matter. The student told him he had a bullet lodged in his back. He had been shot while fighting communists in his native country who were trying to overthrow his country's government and install a new communist government.

In the midst of his story he looked at the professor and asked a strange question. He asked, 'Do you know how to catch wild pigs?'

The professor thought it was a joke and asked for the punchline. The young man said this was no joke. 'You catch wild pigs by finding a suitable place in the woods and putting corn on the ground. The pigs find it and begin to come everyday to eat the free corn. When they are used to coming every day, you put a fence down one side of the place where they are used to coming. When they get used to the fence, they begin to eat the corn again and you put up another side of the fence. They get used to that and start to eat again. You continue until you have all four sides of the fence up with a gate in The last side. The pigs, who are used to the free corn, start to come through the gate to eat, you slam the gate on them and catch the whole herd.

Suddenly the wild pigs have lost their freedom. They run around and around inside the fence, but they are caught. Soon they go back to eating the free corn. They are so used to it that they have forgotten how to forage in the woods for themselves, so they accept their captivity.

The young man then told the professor that is exactly what he sees happening to America. The government keeps pushing us toward socialism and keeps spreading the free corn out in the form of programs such as supplemental income, tax credit for unearned income, tobacco subsidies, dairy subsidies, payments not to plant crops (CRP), welfare, medicine, drugs, etc.. While we continually lose our freedoms -- just a little at a time.

I can only hope and pray that the damage Obama does can be repaired in a short amount of time.

Miracles can occur; I have read the Bible. But without the special being of Jesus, they are often few and far between. I wonder if this situation deserves a miracle? I am hoping for it as I have just been knocked hard by a guy named Ike and I don't want the second punch of Barry. I have never been to Russia or other socialist countries but maybe they are coming to see me. One more week. Maybe some people will wake up.

I see this and fear. I fear for all of us that wear this uniform and must stand off to the side as the country we have sworn to defend plummets towards the things we vowed to defend it from. The worst of it is. I have no voice. I have my vote, as do us all, but it seems that we should have more than a vote since we are the ones that will have to live with it. I must defend these things, but I don't believe in them. How can I faithfully do my duty to my utmost ability if I can't even believe in what looks like is going to be our country's new policy of "togetherness." (Another word for togetherness is collectivism or one that everyone can relate to is SOCIALISM.) If I had wanted to defend socialism, I would have joined the Red Army. If I had wanted a socialist market where the government doles out to their citizens everything they need while basically keeping them in the proverbial handcuffs, I would have moved to Europe. The government is not a crutch to lean on, but a crutch to throw on the fire and fight on with the least amount possible and allow the ideals of freedom and capitalism that this country was founded upon and ran upon for 230 years work. But I see my nation praising a man who is leading this country to the exact thing the previous generations fought and died to keep at bay. I see this and fear...
