Travis:
Thanks for your insight. You help erase my gloomy attitude I've had since the campaign, the election, and now the reality. I second Laura's motion that we remember that God is on our side, as he demonstrated in your mother's recent illness and surgery.

Travis, I am so thankful for your posts; they usually resonate with me. Our current deficit is terrible. I am thankful we live in a country where we have the freedom to voice our concerns. I hope the majority of our country will not forget to think of future generations and the burden greed places upon them. Most importantly, I am glad we serve a sovereign God, who is bigger than these problems, who can use hardship for our own good and turn our hearts back to him.

We did call write our congressmen in October and called them today (thanks for the reminder) to oppose the bailout/stimulus package.

Travis
Again you hit the issues right on target. When the election was over, I bought the book - "Dreams of My Father" by Obama. It puts his personality in prospective and helps show how he was elected. He believes in himself (arrogance) and learned how to con people into also believing in him. You are too young to remember the movie "The Rainmaker" with Burt Lancaster, but perhaps you have seen it on TV. So like Obama -

I did write my Senators who I am proud to say opposed the stimulus package. I just thanked them and asked them to continue to fight for what is right for the economy - not special interests.

Thank you for putting all this in perspective for me, although I think I liked it a lot better when I understood it less!
