When I die, don’t bury me;
I don’t want to be in some cemetery.
Don’t spend your money on a coffin or a grave;
That’s good money that you should save.
You can sell my effects and all my things,
But don’t go and spend it on diamond rings;
Take it back to Texas and buy some land -
Some rolling field where my children can stand.
A place to enjoy nature and watch the sun set -
That’s the highest honor that a man could get.
And since I won’t be any where you can see,
When I die, you can cremate me.
